Zhou lab is working towards a highly creative islet regeneration solution using gastric stem cells, which can be taken through a simple endoscopy, to generate patient-specific islets as a treatment for Type 1 diabetes and advanced Type 2 diabetes.

The innovative approach of bench to clinic will significantly augment the Institute’s scope and capacity, to include all aspects of regenerative medicine, including partnership with bioventures and biopharmaceutical companies. This could be achieved through licensing of the WCM intellectual property and sponsored research agreements.
